This ‘standard zoom’ lens is around 10% smaller than the previous EF 35-80mm zoom. It has a total length of 61mm, with a maximum diameter of 65mm, and accepts 52mm filters. The closest focusing distance is 0.38 metres.

Many photographers find a zoom lens of this range more useful than the traditional 50mm standard lens, and with a weight of only 170g, it is convenient to leave on the camera for general photography.
