EF 35-80mm f4-5.6 II

introduced 1993

This lens does not use a micro ultrasonic motor (USM) for the autofocusing system. Instead, it features a DC motor. A rubber belt is used for incremental reduction from the motor to the gear unit. Use of the rubber belt greatly reduces AF drive noise previously encountered with DC motors. This makes the system an acceptable alternative to USM lenses.

The 35-80mm f/4-5.6 II lens uses 8 elements in 8 groups. It has closest focusing distance of 0.38 metre giving a magnification of 0.25x at the 80mm setting. Manual focusing is possible by setting the focusing mode to ‘M’ and operating the manual focusing ring.
