EF 85mm f1.2L USM

introduced 1989

The EF 85mm f1.2L is an ultra-large aperture medium telephoto lens providing high contrast image quality and superior optical performance, especially at maximum aperture.

The 85mm focal length is ideal for portraiture and landscape photography as it does not suffer unduly from perspective distortion at close distances and it also does not cause the image compression effect common to longer telephotos.

It meets the needs of professionals in commercial and fashion photography by providing high image quality, brightness, and a good blur effect on out of focus portions of the image as a result of its large f1.2 aperture.

An aspherical lens element reduces flare and high contrast and a floating mechanism compensates for aberration alterations during focusing. The built-in ultrasonic motor provideds superior AF performance.
