The Canon EF 500mm f4.5 USM is a super-telephoto lens positioned between the EF400mm f2.8L and EF600mm f4L and is designed for the professional or advanced user and offers the highest level of performance. This high performance lens, which uses an internal focusing system is lightweight for superior mobility, while providing the high image quality and operability demanded by the professional user.

This lens employs a similar design to the highly acclaimed FD500 f4.5L lens. Use of fluorite UD glass elements compensate chromatic aberration, whilst a maximum aperture of f4.5 and compact design realise a lens small and light enough for hand held shooting.
