EF 70-200mm f4L USM

introduced 1999

The EF 70-200mm f4L USM is a compact L-series telephoto zoom for professional and advanced amateur users. It has the same optical performance as the EF 70-200mm f2.8L USM, but with a more compact optical system and a maximum aperture of f4. The result is a high performance at an affordable price.

The new lens is compatible with EF Extenders 1.4x and 2x. Autofocus is retained with the Extender 1.4x on all EOS cameras (AF speed is about half that of the lens without Extender). Most EOS cameras require manual focusing when Extender 2x is used, but autofocus is possible on the EOS 3 with centre point focusing.

• compact, lightweight, high-performance L-series telephoto zoom lens

• minimum focusing distance of 1.2 meters at all focal lengths
• inner focusing an ring USM for silent and high speed autofocusing
• non-rotating front lens allows easy use of polarising filters
• manual focusing adjustment possible in autofocusing mode
• Extenders EF 1.4x and EF 2x can be used for effective focal length increase
• wide focusing ring for easier manual focusing; rotating zoom ring
