Users Guide
The EOS magazine Q and A website was created using blogging platform WordPress. A summary of the most recent questions appears on the home page, with the newest question at the top. Click on the question title or the Continue reading link to read the full answer.
Rating answers
Click on the stars underneath the answer to rate its quality. New answers are automatically given a rating of three stars. Five stars is best, one star is worse.
Click the ShareThis to share the question on social networking and news sites like Facebook and Stumbleupon, or to send it to a friend by email or SMS.
Tags
Each question is assigned tags to help readers search relevant topics. The tags are displayed under the question on the right, and also at the bottom of the right hand column in a ‘tag cloud’ (the most commonly used tags are the largest). Click on a tag to bring up a list of all questions that have been tagged with that word.
Categories
The questions are also assigned to a specific category. Click on any of the categories in the category list on the right hand column to bring up a list of all the questions in that category.
Archives
A list of questions, organised by the date and year in which they were published.
Commenting
This website uses the Disqus commenting system to add to the reader experience. To leave a comment without logging in, type your comment in the box, enter your name and email address (these are compulsory - your email address won’t be published or distributed or used to send unrequested emails) and click Post Comment to post your comment.
Click the Disqus button to create or use a Disqus profile when you comment. The advantage is that you can track the response of other Disqus users to your comment, and use your profile to comment on other websites using Disqus.
You can also login with your Facebook username to leave a comment using your profile.
Comment moderation
For the time being comments are moderated after they’re posted. This means your comment will go live straight away, but we ask that you follow our guidelines. We’re looking for comments that contribute positively to the discussion. All comments will be moderated, and we will delete anything that is spam, abusive in any way, or simply isn’t relative to the topic.
If your comment doesn’t appear right away, it’s probably been caught up in our anti-spam filters. We review these regularly and any comments that are not spam will appear on the website after review.
Comment widget
The comment widget in the right hand column keeps track of comments. The People tab lists the most active Disqus commentators (anonymous, Facebook and Twitter commentators won’t show up here), the Recent tab displays the most recent comments, and the Popular tab lists the questions with most comments.
RSS
RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is a way of keeping up with the latest questions published on the website. To utilise our RSS feed you’ll need a feed reader such as Google Reader or Netvibes. A detailed explanation of RSS feeds is available on the BBC website.
Search
Looking for something specific? There’s a search box in the top right hand corner of the website. Type in your query and click the magnifying glass.
Send a question
Got a question? Send it to us on our Send a Question page and we’ll answer the best and most interesting questions right here.
Feedback
Your feedback’s important to us. To let us know what we’re doing right with the website (to make sure we keep on doing it) and how we can improve, fill in the form on our Feedback page. We read every comment that’s sent to us.
