Firmware updates
Firmware in EOS cameras is rather like the operating system of a computer. It provides the instructions and procedures to be followed by the equipment. From time to time, Canon publishes firmeware upgrades. These may correct a fault which has been discovered in the previous version, or may add new features. It is usually recommended that you update to the latest version. Firmware downloads are free. The firmware can be installed by the user, but make sure you read all the installation instructions before you start.
