EOS magazine published
The latest issue of EOS magazine has just been published and
despatched. It has had a complete redesign and comes with square-back
binding (known in the trade as 'perfect' binding) in place of the
previous double staples. It still fits the existing EOS magazine
binders.
Also new is the dating system. In place of the expected March 2006
issue, subscribers will receive the April-June 2006 issue. These dates
show the period covered by the magazine rather than month of
publication.
Unchanged is the strong mixture of informative technique articles, news
and interviews. Features include:
- an in-depth look at the new EOS 30D and two lenses
- a portfolio from Manuel Presti, current Wildlife Photographer of the Year
- an illustrated diary from award-winning Guardian photographer Dan Chung
- a look at basic camera shooting modes, and when not to use them
- the latest techniques and accessories for cleaning your digital sensor
- shooting from a distance with Canon's latest wireless controller
- everything you need to know about setting and using back-button focus
- an overview of RAW conversion software from Canon and others
If you are not yet a subscriber, go to EOS magazine for
full details and the option to subscribe online.
Classified adverts online
The latest issue of EOS magazine is the last one which will carry
classified advertising. We've now introduced online adverts at EOS Classifieds.
This means you no longer have to wait
for the next EOS magazine to appear - you could place an advert today
and sell the equipment tomorrow.
As before, classified adverts are free to EOS magazine subscribers - up
to 10 adverts at a time, each for 14 days (if you haven't sold the
equipment in this period, you can place the same advert again
free-of-charge for another 14 days). To take advantage of this price
plan you need the code word printed at the end of the final column on
page 7 of the April-June 2006 issue of EOS magazine.
EOS Forums continue to chatter
EOS Forums, which we launched a couple of months ago, now has almost
1500 members, with nearly 10,000 posts in over 1000 topics. Take a look at what's going on at EOS Forums.
You don't need to log in to view the posts, but you will need to register if you want to reply, start a new topic or ask a question. Registration is free.
Make your own Easter cards
There is still time to make your own photo Easter cards (Easter Sunday
is on 16 April this year). EOS magazine offers a full range of d-i-y
accessories, from different types and colours of card to glue, stickers
and presentation materials. You will find everything listed at our
online shop - go to EOS magazine and follow the 'shop'
link. All you need is a good photograph with a spring or Easter theme
and your Easter card problems are solved.
Check your firmware version
Canon has today announced Firmware updates for the EOS 1D Mark II N, 5D
and 30D.
Firmware is rather like a computer operating system. It gives the instructions which control the procedures of the equipment. And like computer software, it is often upgraded to fix bugs or add new features. Canon often releases firmware upgrades, so it is worth checking every month or two that you are using the current version.
There is an option on your digital EOS menu which tells you the version in the camera. To check the latest version, follow the News link from the EOS magazine home page to find firmware links for EOS digital models.
Cashback for EOS 5D
Canon is offering, for a limited time only, £200 cash back to
purchasers of the EOS 5D. Customers who purchase the camera between 21
February and 30 June 2006 are entitled to the £200 rebate.
The offer can be redeemed by sending a completed application form,
along with the barcode and purchase receipt, to the Canon EOS 5D
Promotion Centre. A sticker on the box of the camera will direct
purchasers to a website that supplies full details of the cash back
offer, including the Promotion Centre address, downloadable application
form and the terms and conditions that apply to the offer. Go to Cashback Offer
for details.
Countries taking part in the EOS 5D cash back offer include: Austria,
Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland,
Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and
the United Kingdom.
The cash back offer is open to all EEA-countries and Swiss residents,
but is valid only for cameras purchased in one of the listed 15
countries.
